DanceWorks Irish Dancers present an evening of Celtic dance and music to celebrate the Spring season.
Friday, March 28
Kenmor Theatre (130 7th Street, Morden)
7 PM
(Doors open at 6:30 PM)
DanceWorks is excited to host special guest Al Thomson:
“Al Thomson is well known in traditional music circles as an authentic singer of traditional and regional songs. Growing up in Newcastle-upon-Tyme in the northeast of England in the 1960’s, Al learned many of his songs in the dialects of Northumberland. He plays the Northumbrian small pipes (the traditional instrument of Northumbria), the guitar, and pennywhistle. It is out of a long love for traditional music history and the human condition that he is still collecting and singing songs today. He has memorized scores of songs and loves to share them with others. Al lives in Winnipeg today, and is a member of the Irish Association where you can find him on a Thursday night playing his Irish pennywhistle and sharing his songs.”
