Dance Class Structure

Basic Dance Class Information

DanceWorks offers 1-hour regular classes for its regular disciplines. These classes run from mid-September until early May with a spring recital in May. Throughout the year there are special events including (but not limited to):

  • Masquerade Party (late October) – where students can come dressed up in various costumes as a measure of fun and creativity
  • Fall DanceWorks Classic (mid November) – where the studio hosts its own dancers in a fall dramatic/dance event
  • Bravo! Dance Festival (mid April) – where classes can perform their spring choreography for adjudication purposes. A pre-event helping prepare them for their Spring Recital

For younger children, classes run for 45-minute, and there are some other older or more complex classes which may run at longer intervals. Please see the class schedule for specifics.

With each of the designated class times, it is important to now that it also includes a 5-minute transition time to allow for students to leave and the teacher to prepare for the next class.

Studio Fundraising

In consideration of our students and their parents, DanceWorks has chosen not to host a series of fundraising activities for families to engage in. Instead DanceWorks utilizes performances throughout the year to subsidize the cost of student fees and studio developments (such as providing dance flooring, etc.). Two major fundraising elements (outside of our dramatic productions with the theatre classes) include our Fall Family Classic and our Spring Studio Recital. These performances play a significant role in keeping dance/drama fees more affordable, we appreciate the support from our dance/drama family not only to attend our children’s performances but also through ticket sales.
